CHRISTMAS TRIP TO SALISBURY
A sunny start from Woolavington for the annual Christmas coach trip; this year's destination being Salisbury. Despite a slightly delayed start we had a good journey and arrived before 11 am in time for coffee before commencing the serious business of Christmas shopping.
Salisbury has an abundance of shops both mainstream and those offering something a little different, all of which are within easy walking distance. With not one but two markets, the outdoor Traditional German style with little chalets situated in the market place and the well signed free entry indoor craft sale in the Guildhall we were spoiled for choice.
Teresa and Robert had produced a useful map and details of some good places at which to eat and have a rest from retail therapy.
A visit to Salisbury would not be complete without entering the magnificent cathedral, consecrated in 1258, and viewing one of the four remaining originals of Magna Carta, dating from June 1215 and the medieval clock of 1386, which is the world's oldest working mechanical clock.
There are many other things to see and do in Salisbury but judging from the number of bags being carried back most had had a good time just shopping!
