WOOLAVINGTON WI MEETING JANUARY 2015
A cold wet January evening was not ideal for the first meeting of the new year. Some apologies were sent due to illness but a queue of members formed to renew their subscriptions for another year of varied activities.
The meeting opened with Teresa, President, welcoming four ladies from Walton WI who had come to organise a Kurling event. Kurling is an indoor game similar to its perhaps more well-known outdoor counterpart. It is suitable for all ages and mobility as the stones may be propelled either by bending to the floor or using the pusher. A close fought competition of heats between the teams ensued, resulting in Eve and Sariquia being successful winners in the final.
There were 6 members with birthdays who were presented with the traditional small posies of flowers together with hand made cards.
The competition for “my favourite Christmas card” produced a splendid array of varied entries, making the Walton ladies' job of adjudicating very difficult. Their final decision was 1st May, 2nd Corena and Margaret 3rd.
The raffle concluded the evening and Teresa wished all a safe journey, looking forward to the next meeting to be held on 17th February when we welcome Ken Roberts “two wheels, one world”.
